Imagine you are going on a safari in search of an animal.

You start your safari in one of the countries shown below (green squares). Notice how the countries are in their approximate positions on a world map - this stunt is very educational!

• Choose ANY country and place your finger on its square (you may want to print out the diagram).

• Spell out the name of the country, moving your finger to an adjacent square as you spell each letter (the starting square is NOT included in the spelling).

A legal move involves moving your finger to ANY adjacent square that is ABOVE or BELOW, or to the LEFT or RIGHT. You may NOT move your finger diagonally. You are allowed to move back over squares you have already covered whenever you like.

• Keep moving your finger until you have finished spelling out the name of the country.

• If your final move causes you to land on another country, then imagine that you have travelled to this country and then repeat the spelling procedure using the name of this new country.

• Continue moving and spelling until your final move causes you to land on one of the 48 animals.

Now I am going to ask you a series of questions about your randomly selected animal in an attempt to discover which it is.

When answering these questions, you may choose either to tell the TRUTH or to LIE. Whichever you decide to do, you must be consistent on all questions (i.e., you must always tell the truth, or always lie). Of course I will not know what you have decided to do.
